BaZi begins with four pillars: year, month, day, and hour. Each pillar pairs a Heavenly Stem with an Earthly Branch, creating eight characters that describe the chart's starting conditions.
The chart is not a script that removes choice. It is a structured reference point for noticing tendencies, pressure, resources, and timing.
The Day Master is the reference point
The Day Master is the Heavenly Stem of the day pillar. It gives the rest of the chart a centre, so the other elements can be read as relationships to that centre.
A useful first reading asks whether the Day Master has seasonal support, roots, and help. That is more informative than jumping straight to a lucky or unlucky label.
Bring the chart back to a real question
The strongest reading is usually tied to a decision: how to handle a role change, a relationship pattern, a financial responsibility, or a period of recovery.
Use the chart to organise observations and options. Verify the practical facts yourself, especially where health, law, safety, or money is involved.
